Introduction to Infant Massage Program-1 Sunstone Massage

Obtain a medical release signed by your child’s Physician clearing the child for massage.

This Medical Release will be collected on the day of the first class. You will not be allowed to participate without the signed Medical Release, No Exceptions. This is only to ensure a high standard of safety for these infants and children. Safety and Concern for the children involved is our First Priority.

Bond With Your Baby & Learn How To perform a FULL BODY MASSAGE ROUTINE appropriate for infants:

In the 3 week program you will learn to:

Each family will RECEIVE A COMPLIMENTARY 2oz BOTTLE OF ORGANIC COLD PRESSED OIL TO TAKE HOME AND TO USE DURING THE PROGRAM, AND A REVIEW CARD EACH WEEK, SO YOU CAN PRACTICE YOUR NEW INFANT MASSAGE ROUTINE outside of class.

CERTIFIED INFANT MASSAGE INSTRUCTION is taught in both Group and Private settings. *Appropriate for children 3 weeks old to just walking.

THERE ARE ALSO MANY MODIFICATIONS TO THE ROUTINES THAT MAKE MASSAGING AN INFANT WITH MEDICAL CONCERNS POSSIBLE AND SAFE. A CUSTOMIZED ROUTINE CAN BE TAUGHT TO THE CAREGIVERS IN A PRIVATE SETTING OR A TECHNIQUE VARIATION CAN BE DEMONSTRATED IN A GROUP CLASS.

Both parents are welcome to attend our classes with baby, as are non-primary caregivers such as older siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nannies and pregnant families. A doll or teddy bear will be used to include the second parent/caregiver in the learning of massage techniques.

Our first form of communication, even in the womb, is touch. Nicknamed the “mother of all senses”, touch is the most developed sense at birth. It is through touch that parents and children connect most. Touch therapy for Infants is very nourishing for the entire physical and developmental body systems.

PEDIATRIC MASSAGE for the GROWING CHILD

If your child is no longer an infant, our Massage Therapist can organize a session customized to your personal goals and needs of your child. Seeking help for children with medical concerns requires the experienced hands of a Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist/Registered Massage Therapist.

Sunstone Registered Massage can work with the child directly in the presence of the caregivers. The parents/caregivers will be included in the treatment sessions and taught methods and techniques to continue massage when the Therapist is not there.

There are various methods that make providing massage to children easier. The approach will be different for each child. The Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist has been trained in providing an approach that is respectful and patient, that meets the child at their level and honors their boundaries.

Sunstone Registered Massage understands the sensitive nature of working with children. Professional boundaries, safety guidelines, infection control and patient privacy will be maintained at all times.
