On July 28 it’s World Hepatitis Day.
July 28th was chosen for Hepatitis because it is the birthday of the scientist who discovered the hepatitis B virus (HBV) and also developed a test and vaccine for the virus.
Let’s help raise awareness of hepatitis which causes inflammation of the liver.
We need action to help people living with viral hepatitis. Hepatitis A, B and C affect the liver with an infection. People can protect themselves with the vaccine.
Note: There is no vaccine for hepatitis C.
The World Health Organization reports that every 30 seconds a person is dying from a hepatitis related illness.
WHO: There are five main strains of the hepatitis virus – A, B, C, D and E. Together, hepatitis B and C are the most common which result in 1.1 million deaths and 3 million new infections per year.
At Sunstone RMT, we want to help people to know about hepatitis and to learn about treatment to help reduce transmission and help promote health.
Let’s educate more people about Hepatitis to support life-saving information about viral hepatitis.
